Welcome
Dear Candidate
Thank you for your interest in Norfolk Community Health & Care NHS Trust and this opportunity to join us as an Associate Non-Executive Director (NED).
Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust (NCH&C) serves a population of nearly 900,000 people, delivering a wide range of community services for adults, children, young people, and families. Working across more than 70 different service locations throughout Norfolk, we believe that people are better looked after locally and this drives us to bring our expert care to patients in our seven community hospitals, GP surgeries, specialist clinics and their own homes.
Rated as ‘Outstanding’ by our regulator, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) we are a Trust focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence in terms of both quality and access to care. We are a member of Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS) and work alongside the local and regional health and social care system to ensure that people can live as healthy a life as possible.
Our vision is “To improve the quality of people’s lives, in their homes and community, by providing the best in integrated health and social care” Our ambition is to continue providing outstanding care to our service users, whilst becoming a systems leader and nationally recognised provider of integrated health and care.
The last two years have bought unprecedented challenge to our workforce, service users and population. As interim Chair I have been impressed and inspired by the commitment and dedication I have witnessed from our workforce who have had little respite. They continue to show resilience, compassion and professionalism in response to the pressure and demand of delivering care and supporting colleagues as we start to recover from the pandemic and work with our partners across Norfolk and the surrounding areas.
There is much to be proud of, but still more to achieve, with our new Chair joining us early next year we are focused on achieving our vision, as well as more immediate challenges, as we focus on restoration and recovery and providing outstanding care for our population and fulfilling and enjoyable work for our staff and colleagues.
Joining us as an Associate NED is an exceptional opportunity to share your talents and expertise and make a positive difference to the lives of people in Norfolk and the surrounding areas. The Associate NED role is used successfully in the NHS to support Board succession strategy and achieving a balance of Board level skills.
We’re looking for someone with a clinical or social care qualification or background and strategic leadership experience combined with compassion for our staff, service users and their families, and a passion for the work of the Health and Social care sector. We also need a strong understanding of effective clinical governance systems and processes, quality improvement and patient safety, in addition to experience of effectively monitoring and seeking assurance in relation to a wide range of quality and safety metrics, identifying key issues, themes and trends
If you have this experience and a passion for improving the lives of patients, families and carers, across our communities then we would be delighted to hear from you.
We want our Board to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, so will look for individuals who bring lived experience that equips them both for the leadership aspects of the role but also brings an understanding of some of the challenges of our local communities. Preference will be given to candidates who live in or have strong connections with the Norfolk area.
